What's new in my garden

We have had a few blueberries, and they are the tastiest blueberries ever. There is almost a rosey flavor to them.

Forget me nots that were given to us on earth day. 

Our zucchini's are not as plentyful as they have been in the past, but this is our first year in our new home and the soil is not very great. 

The yellow squash is producing lots, but they aren't growing very big.

The second crop of strawberries have started. Yummy.

It looks like we will have some tomatoes soon. I'll be using these for fresh salsa.

This is my first year growing cucumbers, so it's super exciting seeing these grow. We have already eaten two cucumbers. One from this plant and....

one from this plant. Jude ate most of the cucumbers to himself.

These tiny squash aren't really getting much bigger than this. 

Only four pole beans survived the critters, and they are starting to climb the poles.

Our peas are done. We just pulled up the pea plants on the weekend, and I have planted a second crop where the pole beans are, and I will be putting up chicken wire to keep the critters out. 

I am hoping to pick up some alpaca manure from our neighbors soon, so I can work on improving the soil. I have heard alpaca and lama manure is like the rolls royce of manure, so it's pretty exciting to have a source so close at hand.

Garden Update

Well, it's no secret that I LOVE my garden, so when a fellow blogger over at elephantislove left a comment asking about how my garden is doing, I just had to share. So here are several pictures of my garden:

A good friend stopped by for a visit on Monday with her daughter and they brought this lovely Lavender  bush for our garden. At least I think it's Lavender. 

This is one of the blossoms.

And I am not sure of the name of this plant. It came with our house:) It just started blooming last week.

A new dahlia flower blooming. The poor petals are being eaten by some sort of critter.

As well as the leaves. We haven't caught any critters in the act, so we aren't sure what it is. Anyone have any idea what it could be and how to stop them?

The blueberries are starting to get round and plump!

One of my lavender bushes is getting some more blossoms.

The peas are still producing tons of peas. We pick everyday.

The lettuce kind of blends in, but they are there and doing well.

The zucchini is also starting to grow!! It's so exciting!

Black currents. We don't have many berries growing.

Cucumbers!! This is my first year growing cucumber, so I am pretty excited about them.

Our strawberries are delicious! The best strawberries I have ever tasted.

Still no tomatoes, but they are blossoming.

And last but not least, my beautiful yellow roses. I have been drying the petals so I can use them for.....something. I haven't quite decided yet.

There you have it. My garden. I love it. It is so satisfying to watch tiny seeds or plants grow and produce so much food for us. 

Our Garden is Growing-Update

I love our garden, and it's so exciting to watch it grow! Because I love my garden so much I want to share with you, so here is a picture tour of my garden.

Here is some kale that we had to buy, because we had critters eat all our seeds. This is one of six plants.

We bought a black current bush a couple of weeks ago

We also bought a yellow rose bush, which is now getting some buds!!!!

Look at this beauty! We have one red strawberry almost ready to be picked!

And lots of white berries, which will hopefully be turning red soon.

One of our tomato plants finally starting to bloom.

My peas are so happy:)

A little pod. They grow so fast, it will probably be ready for eating tomorrow or the next day.

Look how big the red leaf lettuce is. Ready for salads.

Rob wanted flowers in our garden. I want food, but I like flowers too, so I let him get some.

My hay fever has prevented me from spending more time in the garden, and I am very tempted to dig up the grass and replace it with moss like this article suggests: Swap Out Your Lawn's Grass for Moss. Unfortunately it wouldn't make much of a difference for my hay fever as we have neighbors with large lots, that grow their grass out, and the wind blows it everywhere. I can't leave my house. It's really disappointing. This was not how I planned to spend the summer.

Oh well. It's still worth it to live away from the city. I just need to make a trip to the doctor to get help for my breathing. I can deal with the rest of the symptoms, but I need oxygen!
