In support of Ashley from Lil Blue Boo

Ashley from Lil Blue Boo is currently fighting a battle against cancer. She is such a strong and inspiring woman, who generously shares many crafty ideas on her blog, as well as giving back to those who are less fortunate. She is an inspiration to many and I wish her a speedy recovery.

If you have never heard of her, I strongly encourage you to check out her blog, as well as her shop. She makes the most adorable girls clothing, and I can guarantee you will be hooked.

Get better soon Ashley!

Finally a successful shirt for my oldest

Last week we bused into town, which takes over an hour, so we could go to the Imax. Well we were in town I thought we may as well stop at the biggest thrift store. I found a "I heart Mom" shirt and showed it to Jai. He told me I should get it for him. Then Jasper said he wanted it. They had a bit of back and forth, until Jai said "Mommy makes you lots of things. She hasn't made me anything!". That settled it. It's not that I haven't made anything for Jai, it's just that the things I have made haven't fit properly.
Success, at last!

Jai likes the shirt I have made for him, and it fits! What more can I ask for?

Have you seen this?

This looks like a super fun activity to do with your kids over the winter. Actually it would be fun even if you don't have kids!

We have definite plans to make some of these, and I can't wait to see the creative ideas my kids come up with.

Halloween is in the air

As soon as October hit the kids went right into Halloween mode. These pictures are from the beginning of the month. We have been sick for the past week and so my computer time has been limited.

These were the outfits for the day. No more plain old regular clothing. It's all about the costumes now.

And we can't forget masks. I found a book of masks in a free box last year. The book is from 1978, and I guess tear out had not been invented, because all the masks have to be cut out by hand! I know! Crazy!

They are awesome though! Jasper was the one who got the ball rolling on the mask idea. He had been looking through it all day pointing out his favorite ones. I finally got the hint and suggested cutting some out. I am so glad we did. This is Jasper rocking out to the radio with his gorilla mask and jedi costume.

And Jai finally, who had finally settled on a mask. This was the only picture I could get before he rushed outside to play hockey.

More Boy Sewing

I have been making more of an effort to focus on creating more boy clothing. There is just so much out there for girls, that I thought it was time to change my focus. I will still be creating girl clothing, because I have a huge stash of fabric that would probably be more desirable for girls. Not that I like to put a label on items being for girls or boys, but, you know what I mean.
I made this rainbow shirt for Jas.

He was loving this forced smile :)

A pumpkin long sleeve for my little pumpkin.

This long sleeve was inspired by halloween. Purple and Green stripes, with a solid green back.

This shirt you may remember from a previous post in the summer. I found this shirt on one of my Win Your Discount Wednesday trips.

This shirt is just so adorable. It was meant for a little guy. I added stripy sleeves for a bit of fun.

These pants are just so fun! I love bright colours and stripes for boys! The cuffs I decided to make dark to hide dirt.

The long sleeve raglans have been made using the pattern in Sewing for Boys.

I have more long sleeves in the works, hoodies and pants of course, but I hope to make some rompers in the near future as well as trying out some jackets.
